Sather Ekblad D.C.
Doctor Ekblad is an honors graduate of Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Ekblad offers a comprehensive approach to chiropractic care, incorporating clinical nutrition and myofascial release techniques along with chiropractic adjustments. This leads to faster recovery and reduces the likelihood of re-injury.
Dr. Ekblad believes in Gentle, Effective Therapy.
The first key word is gentle. You should not be afraid to come to therapy. It is not necessary to hurt you in order to help you get better. As our experience in treating pain grows, we find that gentle is best. The slogan “No pain, no gain” is out of date, at least in the way we practice therapy. Our goal is always to get you out of pain as quickly as possible. That makes it easier to accomplish the remaining goals of your rehabilitation. We never expect a patient to push through pain. Our slogan might be: “No pain, big gain!”
The second key word is effective. Three of the newer, more effective treatments that Dr. Ekblad uses at the Center for Integrated Medicine are Primal Reflex Release Technique (PRRT), Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) also known as Graston Technique, and Electrotherapeutic Point Stimulation (ETPS).
Dr. Ekblad also likes to use the Low Level Laser, which is a painless therapy used to treat over 300 conditions.
Primal Reflex Release Technique (PRRT).
PRRT was developed by John Iams, a physical therapist from California. PRRT works with the reflexes in the body to calm you down, bring you into a more relaxed state, and thereby eliminate your pain. Areas of your body that were once tender and painful become pain free and no longer tender to the touch. PRRT is unusual in that we may work with a part of your body that does not hurt. For example, we may position your arm in such a way that it will reduce pain in your foot. That may sound strange, but we get amazing results. Many patients become pain free at the first or second visit. We often hear, “That’s the first time in years that I have not hurt.”
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM).
IASTM enables clinicians to effectively detect and treat scar tissue and restrictions that affect normal function. Over time, pain increases, tissues weaken, and flexibility and strength gradually decline. IASTM interrupts this vicious cycle restoring circulation and facilitating normal cell production and healing.
Electrotherapeutic Point Stimulation (ETPS).
The theoretical underpinnings of ETPS therapy are based on sound medicine, firmly grounded in the concepts of acupuncture, modern neurology, microcurrent stimulation and myofascial release (muscular relaxation) techniques. ETPS unique contribution to pain relief comes from the synthesis of these different approaches, combining the therapeutic ‘pearls’ of these different therapies into easy-to-use protocols.
