Acupuncture
Acupuncture originated in China over 2,000 years ago. In the millennia since, acupuncture has been in use continuously as an effective medical treatment for a wide variety of ailments. Acupuncture is so effective, in fact, that it is rapidly becoming accepted by the mainstream medical community. There is more research and anecdotal evidence proving acupuncture works than for any other form of complementary medicine.
Based on the Chinese concept of Qi, or energy, and its effect on your health, acupuncture improves the quality of Qi flowing through your body to help you regain good health. Because Qi flows through specific pathways in your body, acupuncture uses ultra-thin needles inserted at precise points on your body to stimulate and rebalance Qi and bring about healing.
Acupuncture has been proven effective at reducing pain, encouraging mental and physical relaxation, relieving stress and tension, increasing circulation and energy levels, aiding digestion and detoxification, improving internal organ function, helping to overcome bad habits and addictions, and imparting a greater sense of wellbeing.
People rarely experience discomfort with acupuncture. While our acupuncturist, Denise Hirschberg, LAc, works on you, you may feel a sensation of energy flowing through your body. This is normal. Many people leave their acupuncture sessions feeling relaxed, and most experience better results with multiple treatments.
